Currently have to spell out the entire URL to enable hyperlink. Is it possible to give a short name to a URL with hyperlink enabled?

You can do this! A few months back we shipped the ability to format a column in a table as a hyperlink that gets its URL from a different measure or column: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/power-bi-hyperlinks-in-tables Thanks for your votes!

RE: Short URL with display text
What my team would want is the ability to place the URL data point on an existing column, to make the column a hyperlink. For example, if you have a data source with two columns: Account Name and Account Link. Ideally we would want to put the Account Link data as a "hyperlink" for the Account Name column on a report. So that the account name would show as a hyperlink. As someone mentioned, this would prevent having to have an additional column with the paperclip... and would allow the Account Name to be "clickable" in pie charts, or bar charts, etc.

This feature would be very beneficial to finally have!

Feature really needed!

How is this even a thing? No alternate text? No image? An unchangeable dark icon you can't see on a dark background? Hard to replace an HTML based report when Power BI lacks capabilities that have existed in HTML since the very first HTML spec. Yikes!

Under review for 5 years :)

The hyperlink icon is great; however, if I could make a text field as the URL string, this would save an extra column in a table, for example the item name or ref no.

This is definitely needed and already a widely used feature in several applications, such as Excel.

A friendly name is essential because it's really hard to fit a 100+ character URL nicely into a table.
