Currently have to spell out the entire URL to enable hyperlink. Is it possible to give a short name to a URL with hyperlink enabled?

You can do this! A few months back we shipped the ability to format a column in a table as a hyperlink that gets its URL from a different measure or column: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/power-bi-hyperlinks-in-tables Thanks for your votes!

RE: Short URL with display text

Yes we can shorten the hyperlink to little icon available in latest version of the PBI Desktop. Check this out.

RE: Short URL with display text

This is a much required feature and is commonly available in most of the reporting tools. I am trying to put a hyper link in one of the columns based on a hyperlink stored in another column in power BI Matrix Table. But unable to succeed. I can place the website as another column in the report. But my intention is to put the hyper link over the first column and remove the second column from the table. Please implement this idea.

RE: Short URL with display text

I have Incident #s that I would like to have hyperlinked in the background to save real estate on the table as well as improve aesthetics

RE: Short URL with display text

I agree this would be an excellent feature.

RE: Short URL with display text

Yes Please...we're using Power BI to display CRM data. It be nice to have the values on the report linked directly back to the CRM record.

RE: Short URL with display text

Having to add a separate column and define it as a URL for something else takes up needed space although the column can be shrunk to take up little space. Would like to be able to just display a column with a name or whatever and have it be clickable and fire off a URL from another column or something.

RE: Short URL with display text

This seems to be very similar to https://ideas.powerbi.com/forums/265200-power-bi/suggestions/10876392-allow-url-from-one-column-to-be-specified-as-hyper, and https://ideas.powerbi.com/forums/265200-power-bi/suggestions/9027349-improvements-for-url-show-text-that-is-different. My suggestion would be to add a new HYPERLINK function (see Excel's) that could be used when adding a New Column.

RE: Short URL with display text

At the time being, matrices are a bit on the static side. Yes, you can filter and dive on other visual objects - but once the matrix shows the details - it is not very useful. Having the 'Web URL' was a great improvement in this sense - and I would think that adding an attribute for the display name - or a referenced display name column (like 'sort by' on numbers/alphabetical sorting) - should be fairly simple. This request is both old and (in my view) simple. Please fix.

RE: Short URL with display text

This is a show stopper, must have. Within table objects we need to be able to leverage a URL value, and URL hyperlink attributes. Similar to how links were added to PowerBI text boxes.

RE: Short URL with display text

It takes up a lot of space to put the entire URL column in a report. Having a way to shorten would really help
