We see that there is a way at the tenant level to restrict the export to excel as well as the analyze in excel but we need an option per dataset (preferred) or per Power BI Report to restrict this option. The problems we are facing is for both sensitive information and also for volumes of data that is too large for this option. We need to have the ability to stop this option for these specific datasets but allow it for other non-sensitive information - so the tenant level option is not appropriate.

You can do this by changing the "Export data" setting in the Options in Power BI Desktop: File --> Options and Settings --> Options --> Current File Report Settings --> Export Data.

RE: restrict export to excel

While this feature has no been rolled out for the export to excel feature it still is not possible for analyze in Excel. In our current scenario analyze in Excel is used by a large number of report consumers. For a new report consumers should not be able to see the underlying data. While the export of detailed data can be disabled via report settings this is not possible for “analyze in excel” feature and therefore is no benefit in terms of data protection.
The same applies to the new feature XMLA endpoints. In our current situation we only have the choice to disable “Analyze in Excel” for all users or to implement these critical report using alternative technology

RE: restrict export to excel

This would be very useful as currently you can't use Apps without anyone having access to the entire data model given they can upgrade to a free trial of Pro.

RE: restrict export to excel

If we can enable/disable export data as well as analyze in Excel at dataset level would be great addition.

RE: restrict export to excel

this is a very important topic, we would urgently need it also in our organization.

Disabeling Export to Excel and Analyze in Excel should be separate options.

It could be managed on dataset level, but better on role level or report level. Or even on Workplace level.
Many thanks in advanced for implementing this asap.

RE: restrict export to excel

also the filters should be optional in the PBI Service,
in many reports this is a very important tool to build the model.

Pure consumers should not be able to change preset filters. They could add filters, but not change those that are set by the creator.

RE: restrict export to excel

Please implement this - we work primarily with enterprise level clients, and the data sets are almost always large, so we really need this functionality.

RE: restrict export to excel

Please implement this. We have had to switch off as clients were exporting massive volumes of data comprising the entire system for all clients.

RE: restrict export to excel

Please, please implement this! Especially for the Analyse in Excel function.

Ideally it will be flexible to allow what datasets or reports to restrict.

RE: restrict export to excel

please implement this, we already have Power BI Premium in place, but this is holding us back to use Apps company-wide!
