RE: Backup your report and dashboard in case someone accidentally drop or modify your report or dashboard.

Dear MS Team,I had an issue recently where I started getting "An unknow error has occurred. Please try again. If the issue continues, please contact support" when I was trying to refresh my model. I had no other option but to delete the semantic model, report and upload it.This obviously resolved the problem but the link to my power bi dashboard was changed. Since the report is used by multiple teams for capturing KPIs and SLAs, I have to now inform every one to update the their bookmark.Support personnel from MS said they cannot troubleshoot the issue because the old semantic model was not there any more.So next time if the issue happens, I have to wait until support team picks up the ticket and investigates the cause of the problem.A backup of old report and semantic model could have come in handly to reproduce the issue.

The back up of published reports is a critical requirement. Not in cases of accidental deletion but now, since we have the ability to (if switched on) amend the data model within the service his could cause added layers of confusion (if used) and make version control more difficult. As changes made to the model in the service are auto saved (and potentially made in error) the effect could be wide reaching.

This is a critical feature for a production system - makes it hard to migrate from competitive products.

How come power Bi does not incorporate the ability to back up as an essential feature??

It is fundamental feature. No confidence in production without a reliable backup.
