The slicer dropdown should be expanded when it is dropped down to fit the width of the items in the dropdown list. This is standard in Tableau and allows you to save space with slicers by not having to make them as wide as the longest item they contain. It doesn't affect usability at all as they retract as soon as a selection is made.

RE: Expand Slicer Dropdown When Viewing to Fit Width
This is a very annoying feature that would save me having to create multiple bookmarks for each report because my users cant decide if they want to view slicers by ID or description. Concatenating them together means they have to take up twice the size so instead I have buttons to switch between bookmark states showing two different slicers. A dynamic width on the slicer would make the reports easier to build and simpler to use.

Can't believe that this idea has only 3 votes.
The problem discribed annoys me.
I have to waste space due to the width of the slicer, otherwise the user can't read the data in the slicer.
Would like to add a screenshot but it seems that this is not possible.
