I'd like to be able to select a record in a table and have a chart on the dashboard filtered by that record. For example in PerformancePoint you can create a KPI list and then have a filter action to filter a line chart by the selected KPI. Ideally it would be good to have something similar to Tableau chart actions where you can customize which charts are affected by the filter, method of activating the action (click, hover etc). I understand this might be complex so I'd settle for a special type of table which restricts you to one dimension and many measures, and clicking on a dimension value would filter all charts on the dashboard.

We have this feature in the new table and matrix visual. Learn more in the blog: https://powerbi.microsoft.com/en-us/blog/power-bi-desktop-may-feature-summary/#table

RE: Table filter

That was one of the first things, that almost turned us into implementing Qlik Sense, where this function is availale (and working perfectly). You can click any element in the tables, graphs etc and they act as filters/slicers. Definitelly - one of the nr 1 to implement. I'm sure, you can do that (Qlik team did...) :)

RE: Table filter

This would be extremely helpful - almost essential. Much of my work is ad hoc reporting (versus BI analysis), and I would also use it to show details in a separate table or matrix when the user highlights a particular row in a table, scrolls the table, etc. In most cases, far too many slicers would be needed to select a single row in the table, and the user would loose context by narrowing to a particular row.

RE: Table filter

Surprised to see that this was not yet there...
Should be easy to implement

RE: Table filter

The more I try to do with power bi the more I think what was possible in other applications, this being one of them. Its a great product and I know there is a rapid amount of dev being done but basic features like this still need to be pushed. :o)

RE: Table filter

This would be a really useful feature for me too. I have been trying to find a work around to get a similar solution and just can't come up with anything using the current tools available. Please get this one on the go as soon as possible.

RE: Table filter

Yes - we would really appreciate this. We used Performance Point Scorecards the same way on our dashboards (filter other scorecards/graphs by clicking on scorecard row) and cannot find a way to recreate this experience on Power BI.

This needs to become reality. As soon as possible.

RE: Table filter

This would make the report possibilities a lot bigger. A must have feature, which can't be implemented fast enough.

RE: Table filter

Agreed. We use PBI on a very large touch screen monitor in a public area. When people "play" with the reports, a lot of the times they are touching the tables thinking the filtering also works that way. In my opinion just about every object or visual you can use in PBI should support filtering and/or drilling. Also Matrices.
