Make visuals unselectable

I noticed in the Gartner Bakeoff report that you had used some filled shapes in the background to produce a nice looking report. E.g. having a blue bar on the left for the navigation pane.

However by clicking on the "background" it will bring that visual to the font and obscure any visualisations that should be on top of it.

There should be a way (possibly in the selection pane) of making it so an object cannot be selected to prevent this problem.

Yas! Like a "lock" object option that turn on something like "do not have action" when it is able

Yes, this is badly needed. Invariably, some elements of a report are there just to show a number or a visual, or to be a decoration hiding internal structure, never to be interacted with. That sort of functional and visual polish quickly becomes critical for business audiences.
