I need to protect our SQL query so that no one can view or edit it (or change the server address), but leaving to the users the possibility to edit visuals and datasets (password protected gear icon in the query editor). It would be also useful a lower level password protected .pbix. We need to know if Microsoft is going to develop something like this in order to permit us to develop some heavy queries on our database structure. I found Power Bi Desktop very intuitive, but much less secure than Excel, passwords, macros, permission levels would provide great improvement.

RE: Password protected query and report

I agree with this query protection idea. We are using Power BI Desktop and I would like to prevent users from editing the queries so they cannot access information they are not supposed to see. While they may not know how to edit the queries or even what data tables they would need, it is a protection I would still like to impose.
