Currently, if a report has elements on top of each other, selecting one element makes the other invisible. eg if a report has a slicer on top of a filled rectangle, as I do with all of my reports, if a user accidentally selects the rectangle instead of the slicer, then the slicer disappears. If the user moves the mouse away from the rectangle, the slicer reappears. Moving the mouse back onto the rectangle shape makes the slicer disappear again. The only way to stop this behaviour is to select something else on the report canvas, which is not very intuitive for users. ideally, there should be a way to stop users from selecting certain items on the report canvas.

In my mind the best way to do this would be to use the 'Edit Interactions' functionality. Selecting an item on the report canvas, while 'Edit Interactions' is enabled, would show an icon on the item to allow users to select that item or not.

RE: Allow items on the report canvas to be selectable by a user or not

Thanks for adding the idea, it's a same it's got so many little votes. The current behaviour confuses users and even if they know how to make the slicers reappearing it seems glitchy and unprofessional...
