I understand the reason for Power BI Premium to make it more cost efficient for large organisations. However, in doing so you have totally cut off many many small to medium businesses. Lots of my clients are looking at Power BI and want to be able to collaborate dashboards and reports with a small number of report writers (1-10) and then a small group of consumers (5-100). In addition most of them already have SSRS report so the Power BI Server would be perfect to have a one stop portal for all reporting. The minimum £3000 per month is totally ridiculous for this size of business and is only viable for those with 1000s of users. Seen as the Power BI Portal is just SSRS Portal rebranded then surely if the user already has a SQL licence then there should be a Power BI Server licence included with that or available for the same scale?
My suggestion is to have a separate Power BI Server licence or include a scenario in the Premium licence for small user groups of under 100 users to make it cost effective.
Just when I thought that Microsoft were finally using business sense and offering a one stop shop for reporting that was more than a match for Tableau and Qlik they go and destory all the god work in one swoop!! Please listen Microsoft and sort this licence cost out for small businesses or risk consigning Power BI to the bin !!!

RE: Power BI Server for SMEs
Yes actually it is far too expensive. I’d love to use the Report Server on prem.

Agree 100%
RE: Power BI Server for SMEs
Totally agree. Power BI Server is a natural extension of SSRS and some customers doesn't want to store data on the cloud. Some BI dataviz specialists are very happy! Tableau, Qlik...
Microsoft loose potential customers!!!
