Hi everyone,
Currently the "Common Data Service (beta)" connector in Power BI only features "import" queries for data.
In 2017 there was a release of a "PowerApps Common Data Service" connector, that featured direct queries:

"Reports reflect real time data
There’s no need to schedule a refresh in Power BI. When the data is updated in CDS, changes are reflected in reports. Reports are interactive and responsive. You can interactively explore CDS data using the capabilities of Power BI."
Will this feature come again?
Direct query would be especially helpful in combination with passign through the current user, so that the security model of CDS is also respected in the reports.
Kind regards,
Trutz

RE: CDS integration in Power BI with Direct Query option
It does make more sense to do direct query against the replica Azure Data Lake rather then to stress an operational transaction system with high impact reporting inquiries.

RE: CDS integration in Power BI with Direct Query option
This would be an awesome feature, also having query folding available
RE: CDS integration in Power BI with Direct Query option
Cmon guys, we'd love to do some live reporting from Dynamics. Right now we have to revert to using the Azure SQL replica DB. While this is OK it's an additional cost and not "live"
RE: CDS integration in Power BI with Direct Query option
I agree. Direct query would open up a lot of new options for integrations with PowerApps and Flow. We have a lot of Power BI that could be significantly enhanced with this realtime integration.
RE: CDS integration in Power BI with Direct Query option
any news on that? June 2019 relase includes CDS common data service as feature, but I guess only "import" mode ... direct query is a must!
RE: CDS integration in Power BI with Direct Query option
CDS is the database environment of the Power Platform. Why doesn't it support a live connection with Power BI? This is a must have.
