Make all semantic models and reports created within Fabric deployable

Today, we cannot deploy the semantic models created from the default semantic model within Fabric to other workspaces. They just don't appear when you try to create the pipeline.


If we create another report and semantic model based on this new downstream Fabric semantic model with Power BI Desktop and upload it to Fabric, the report and model seem to be deployable, but then they fail because the semantic model on which they are based does not exist.


I've discovered this after a lot of struggling and talking to MS support.


One of the strong selling points of any analytics system is the idea of the single source of truth, and Microsoft touts the virtues of the default dataset for this in its documentation.


Following the instructions from the documentation results in having a non deployable dataset, and a lot of lost hours of work.


All semantic models and reports available in the OneLake workspaces should be deployable

In fact we just got confirmation from Microsoft's support that any dataset created from data that originates within Fabric cannot be deployed. So forget about using the delta tables inside Fabric...
