Allows the PBI Admin to control creating of workspaces and apps from Power BI. We have end users who do wonderful things on their own, but when they publish Apps we have no way to vet and "certify" that they are sharing good data. Would prefer to be able to control what gets published outside of the "my workspace" area. Don't care if they share with others, but doing a new workspace and especially an App needs to be admin approved. With 5,000 employees we can't have 5,000 apps all called "Payroll" or "timesheet tracking" or "overhead"...

Can do this with Powershell https://support.office.com/en-us/article/manage-who-can-create-office-365-groups-4c46c8cb-17d0-44b5-9776-005fced8e618?ui=en-US&rs=en-US&ad=US

RE: restrict creation of app and workspace
Agree with this. Sorely needed. What is also needed is a "viewer" only license, that cannot create and share data.

RE: restrict creation of app and workspace
I do not agree with this idea. I once thought the same but after training users I see why they should be able to set up their own workspaces to share with a specific group. It is up to the users and departments themselves to organize and control the workspaces as needed. But the entire reason I wanted to go with a data warehouse and power bi was to get away from depending on IT for my reporting needs which would also include my ability to share with a specific group. I would not want this changed
RE: restrict creation of app and workspace
For users to consume a report in SharePoint Online, they will need a Pro Licence or be covered by a Premium licence. If you don't want all the Pro licence holders to access and publish reports, this idea would be very useful from a data governance point of view.
