Power BI designer should integrate Power Map design experience, don't let Power Map just like a stand-along part of Power BI...

We are looking to improve our maps. A new Shape Map control is expected in the summer which will solve some of these issues.

RE: Power Map integration
Power Map in Excel is an amazing tool, and it would be great to see ALL (or most) of its functionality available in Power BI - one powerful "Power Combination".
It will create great advantage over other products.
RE: Power Map integration
The ability to layer is necessary. Even if limited to some "out of the box" layers initially where Microsoft controls the polygons and allows us to reference them would be a step in the right direction.
Perhaps you could initially provide the various polygons provided by the Census Bureau for the US - States, Counties, Zips, Census Tracts, Census Tract Blocks. Even if we could pass in a geographic region and Power BI map that layer while allowing us to pass in an array of longitude and latitudes to map as a layer, it would be an improvement.
RE: Power Map integration
PowerMap in excel support custom floor plan but it does not.
RE: Power Map integration
Why is the mapping functionality in Power BI still so lacking compared to Power Maps in excel?
RE: Power Map integration
None of the new mapping features for Power BI are able to offer as much as Power Maps in Excel offers. Please MS bring Power Maps inot Power BI.
RE: Power Map integration
This would be a great addition to Power BI. The Esri and Mapbox maps are OK but have limitations. Mapping is still a feature that needs a better native solution in Power BI. This idea would certainly do this.
RE: Power Map integration
It would be great to be able to import Map Point capabilities into Power BI
RE: Power Map integration
Regarding maps - I would like the ability to handle many more data points than maps can currently, have map layers, and include temporal capability to see changes over time. The current mapping is limited, does not scale well and offers no temporal capability from a playback perspective.
RE: Power Map integration
Layers on maps are an essential feature needed on Power BI
RE: Power Map integration
Government customers who need to point to local maps need this capability. Having a coordinated story between PowerMap and Power BI Desktop is also extremely important.
