I'm getting complaints that the "Highlight" interaction is confusing and counter-intuitive from many users (don't take it personally).

I need to set the default to "Filter" most of the time. This means much clicking around for me. I sometimes forget to change a chart from "Highlight" to "Filter" and then they get annoyed.

I wish I could set a checkbox in a settings panel to change the default to "Filter"

RE: User-customisable default visual interaction

The report creator should be allowed to toggle between filter and highlight at the page level for all visual interactions. Currently, if I have a report page with 10 different visuals and I want them all to filter down based on what is selected in another visual, I have to select each visual individually and adjust visual interactions for all the other visuals - very time consuming.

Currently the default interaction between graphs is highlight. Please create the ability to set your default to any of the available options: Filter, Highlight or None

RE: User-customisable default visual interaction

I like cross-highlighting in principle because it shows the detail in the broader context but I'm a data nerd not a regular user.

I hear the same complaint from users about cross-highlighting over and over. They cant interpet it.

Technically cross-highlighting show two charts (original and detail) of the same type overlaid on each other. For clarity, the original chart with the broader context has an increased transparency setting.

The idea is to enable the user to understand how the detail data compares/contrasts with the benchmark of the original chart. The problem is that a cross-highlighted chart does not measure and display the comparison directly. The user must do work to infer the difference between the original and the highlighted detail.

I have to manually change it for every single chart. When there are more than 3 charts the interaction becomes a problem.

RE: User-customisable default visual interaction

Allowing us the ability to set the default would help greatly. In the dashboard we are currently creating, we have several pages of visuals and setting the interactions for each is quite tedious and prone to inconsistencies.

RE: User-customisable default visual interaction

Currently the behavior when building a report is that your visualizations will cross highlight. Create an ability to set the default to be cross filter.
