Improve the administration of workspaces. As an administrator I want to be able to access and have visibility of all workspaces, dashboards, reports and datasets. I want to be able to restrict users being able to use their My Workspace. I want to be able to disable the creation of workspaces for Pro users. I want to be able to create groups to manage access to workspaces without needing global admin rights.

RE: Workspace Adminstration

Part of what you are asking for could be covered by:
1. https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/rest/api/power-bi/admin/groups_getgroupsasadmin - this will give you overview of all artifacts in your tenant.
2. Azure Purview - can scan your tenant and provide you lineage between various artifacts
3. If you are using modern workspaces, and you have Power BI Administrator role in Azure AD, then you can give yourself access to any modern workspace via the Admin portal > Workspaces.

RE: Workspace Adminstration

We would like all of the service information (read only) in one place (this would ideally be a report/ dataflow /dataset so that we can search and filter) . Info like all objects that have security granted, to whom and what level, all gateway info and their data sources and which datasets access these (you cannot tell using the portal what reports will break if you change a database or cube on premise).
As a starting point it would be good to have all of the read only info you can get via the API in a report/dataset/data flow.

RE: Workspace Adminstration

Adding Workspace Owner to existing Admin Portal at https://app.powerbi.com/admin-portal/workspaces ... would be a great addition. If the workspace owner does not add global admin as a member or workspace admin, it is nearly impossible to know who the owner is. Thank You!

RE: Workspace Adminstration

Also, it would be interresting to view which workspace is being used or not (nb of users, nb of view per months, etc.). It would allow to free space on the node.

RE: Workspace Adminstration

You can choose who can create workspaces in the tenant settings.

RE: Workspace Adminstration

QA/Stage environment should have a place in the workspace. Developers shouldn't need to create a separate workspace just for testing. Dev + QA/Staging + Production all in one workspace. Dev could be done on the desktop or in the service. Having to move workspace contents from one workspace to another is not enterprise friendly.

Strange that this is not a feature already.

RE: Workspace Adminstration

Ideally, I'd like to be able to see all workspaces and the members of those workspaces to discourage "duplicative" workspaces from being created. If we can see the workspaces out there, and be able to ask to join a collaboration workspace, that would help.
