An option to make make a visual show cumulative values would be great. Right know you would have to create a column with a DAX formula. An option to show values cumulative in the visual settings would be much easier.

RE: Option for cumulative values in visuals.
I can't believe it's been almost 9 years since this was suggested and we still have to make columns. There's a quick measure for a running total but it doesn't work in many cases - for example, if you want to toggle between daily and weekly views with a slicer. As others have said, cumulative plots are standard to other similar products, and being forced to use a DAX workaround every single time is definitely a negative user experience.
RE: Option for cumulative values in visuals.
Cumulative (or Running) totals are standard in Tableau. I want a cumulative/running total for a distinct count of rows in a table. The Year-To-Date total Quick Measure would be great; however, I need this to include multiple years. I would have thought "Running Total" would provide what I needed; however, it seems to provide only a total per month which is the exact same total that I get with distinct count of the rows by month. If I look at the general definition of a Running Total, "A running total is simply a sum as the values occur. In other words, a running total sums the current value and all those that precede it". This is not happening when I try to use the Running Total function, so I'm not sure what its purpose is. Perhaps the Running Total Quick Measure should be renamed to something that actually reflects what it does.
I am a Tableau user and this is very standard in Tableau. The conversion to PowerBI has been frustrating.

It is needed just like running the total option in visual. Creating a formula or quick measures mean too many formula's

'+1000 votes if I could. Having to do in DAX is a workaround but this is not something an enduser who just wants to quickly visualize will take the time (or have the skill) to do.
RE: Option for cumulative values in visuals.
I agreee all theses comments. A real check box would better than lost a lot of times and tries to do the work. Its really unpowerfull.
When do you put in in a new release ?
RE: Option for cumulative values in visuals.
The usage of a DAX formula for end users is definitively a very bad solution. If you get data through the Enterprise Gateway you are not able to create any DAX formula so you get stuck. This miss of feature is a real pain I agree.
RE: Option for cumulative values in visuals.
This is a real pain, and frankly, for non expert users, I believe very discouraging : try to display the cumulative value of purchases made to suppliers if you don't know quite a bit of Dax
RE: Option for cumulative values in visuals.
Yes, it is also for us very important to show cumulative values. Especially if the data comes from stream analytics directly to powerbi it is not possible to make dax functions. So either an option or a custom visual would help a lot.
RE: Option for cumulative values in visuals.
This is the main reason that we are not adopting PowerBI. Cumulative totals are standard in PowerPivot (right click - display result as - running total in). I really cannot understand why this should be so difficult to implement in Power BI i.e. right click to get a line char to display cumulative totals!
