This depends on having the SQL Server Analysis Services Cubes connector implemented. But now work has started on that I wonder if it will include write-back functionality. This would be ideal for financial planning and budgeting solutions in PowerBI.

I highly support this idea. It already has been posted a few times.

RE: SQL Server Analysis Services Cubes write-back
'@sebastian there are two flavors of write-back dimension write-back (create new members), this feature is deprecated, but the other flavor cell-writeback to SSAS measure groups is still a much needed capability in financial or sales related planning budgeting scenarios
RE: SQL Server Analysis Services Cubes write-back
in the major sql server release after sql server 2016 it´s planned not to continue e.g. with the write-back functionality of dimension values (announced to be deprecated), which will completely disable the possibility of having manually set comments by the data. how this integrates with the need of having write back capabilities in the reporting layer as requested here?
RE: SQL Server Analysis Services Cubes write-back
I totally agree - customers doing financial planning and budgeting ask for write-back options.
RE: SQL Server Analysis Services Cubes write-back
Any update on this? Would be nice if there is a way that data can be written back on a sharepoint list or excel file.
