Visual Studio and SQL Server Management Studio have "Appange tables" option which automatically arranges tables on the screen.

This could be very useful in "Relationships" view of Power BI Desktop.

RE: Option to automatically arrange the Table Relationship Diagram

In addition to the other suggestions, I think it would be nice if there was a button that cleaned up the relation lines without reordering tables.

RE: Option to automatically arrange the Table Relationship Diagram

It is not only painful when re-arranging tables, but it's also painful when connecting to a data warehouse and having to use the mouse to arrange all of the tables in a clear way, with dims above and facts below.

RE: Option to automatically arrange the Table Relationship Diagram

What would be ideal is a button to set the arrangement. My preferred format is 1s on top row, stars below. That is, if a table is on the one side of any relationship, put it on the top row; if a table has no relationships with 1s on its side, put them on the second row. Disconnected tables could go on a third row. Tables with a 1 side and a many side would go on the top row by having one relationship on the one side.

This particular arrangement suits the case of multiple fact tables sharing the same dimension tables.

RE: Option to automatically arrange the Table Relationship Diagram

It is painful as the tables are scattered.. everytime you need to re-arrange.. Its painful.
Or atleast the tool should retain the last arrangement.
if you need ideas, please look at the Informatica ETL Designer tool for inspiration.
