Right now, the only way to change CDS connection string (say from Dev to Prod) is to change the Advanced Query for each and every entity. It is really frustrating to having to change the connection it when there are large number of entities. Need easier way to update the connection in one place just like SQL server and other sources, from the Data Source Settings pane.

RE: Need the ability to change CDS connection string using the datasource settings pane.

There are a couple of reasons why this feature is needed -From security perspective, DBA have to deploy reports for production use. Report developers should not be deploying reports directly into production folders. As DBA we need to maintain accountability and stability of deploymentsConnection settings (data source - server & database) between development and production use can be totally different. Only DBA should be able to change connection settings for production use as we normally handle SSRS reports. We use on-prem Power BI server and I tried changing the connection settings of reports (Power BI Desktop or paginated) using PowerShell methods but failed. with error code 400 ("bad request").
