Now, if one wants to create his/her own reports based on data model (dataset) prepared for a company, he/she has to have edit rights for the workspace assigned. Edit right disables Row Level Security. So, it is not possible to delegate report creation to users, who should not see all the data from given dataset.
It would be very useful if e.g. RLS would work for users with 'edit right', or if dataset would be available (e.g. as a Power BI Service) for users with 'view only right'.

RE: Ability to create own reports without edit right and disabling RLS
Seems very strange that we can't have a 'self service' tool with RLS applied. That is I can't share a subset of the organisation's data with a colleague and allow them to edit the contents of the report to suit there own needs.
RE: Ability to create own reports without edit right and disabling RLS
I'm very wondered to do not have this feature and the lower level of vote. Democratisation of BI / Self-Service BI must be joinded with data governance and RLS.
RE: Ability to create own reports without edit right and disabling RLS
Could not agree more, this functionality would be huge for our organization
RE: Ability to create own reports without edit right and disabling RLS
To me this is one of the most important ideas submitted and wondering why it has so few votes. Right now you either get RLS or BI Self Service, not both unless you use SSAS. Am i missing something but if you are asking enterprise clients to choose between self service and RLS they will choose Tableau or QlikSense as Jan pointed out.
RE: Ability to create own reports without edit right and disabling RLS
Seems like a must have for me as well,it's called "self-service" BI after all.... Certainly sinse QlikSense does offer this functionality through section access in load scripts.

RLS should work for users with 'edit right'
