Update the SQL Azure connector to use Azure AD Auth. This will allow row level security in the database to be used with PowerBI.
It would be great to have PowerBI pass through user credentials to the database so that data can be kept secure.

RE: SQL Azure connector with Azure AD Auth
Still impossible de use Power BI with Azure AD authentication mode, any solution to this problem ?
RE: SQL Azure connector with Azure AD Auth
I was unable to get this to work: https://community.powerbi.com/t5/Integrations-with-Files-and/Error-connecting-PowerBI-with-Azure-SQL-Database-with-Azure/td-p/440532
RE: SQL Azure connector with Azure AD Auth
This feature only works for native AD users, it does not work for AD guest users. For AD guest users it is giving "We couldn't authenticate with the credentials provided. Please try again." even with the valid credentials.
RE: SQL Azure connector with Azure AD Auth
This is to connect PowerBi directly to your data.
There is no way to connect PowerBi to my WebAPI that is secured by AzureAD.
RE: SQL Azure connector with Azure AD Auth
Did you plan to integrate the same feature in Excel 2016 soon ?
It seems Excel and PowerBI Destop use the connector, but I don't see the tab "Microsoft Account" in Excel...
RE: SQL Azure connector with Azure AD Auth
From the Jan-18 update page : "Note that support for this new authentication type in the Power BI service will come in a few weeks. Please stay tuned to this blog for updates on this capability."
Please delete this misleading sentence. The feature is now available.
RE: SQL Azure connector with Azure AD Auth
This will be great
RE: SQL Azure connector with Azure AD Auth
Please provide an update on expected release date.
RE: SQL Azure connector with Azure AD Auth
I'd love to figure out how to share PowerBI Apps that depend on DirectQuery, but it seems impractical without this feature.
RE: SQL Azure connector with Azure AD Auth
Power BI Desktop December now supports several 3rd party connectors but does not support Microsoft Azure AD Auth. Really strange !
