IT needs to be able to control which individual, or group of, can install the On-Premises Gateway. Currently, if one user has privileged access to a data source, that user can share information through reports with other users that do not have the same level of access.
The above can take place and go undetected, because the recently implemented audit feature of Power BI does not log On-Premises Gateways actions.
This in SAP HANA shops is a big deal, as a number of users do have access to the data, as access controls (IAM) on the SAP HANA side controls data a given user has access to.
With the above said, we would like to have control of who within an organization has the control to install those gateways, together with having visibility to whom within the organization has gateways installed, having control and visibility of whom in the organization is installing and using gateways.

RE: Ability to view and control who can create On-Premises Gateway
Please add this feature soon. Many people are installing the Personal Gateway and its very hard to audit or control in an Enterprise.
RE: Ability to view and control who can create On-Premises Gateway
Not only is this a security risk it is a maintenance nightmare. Allowing all users to setup a personal data gateway and schedule refreshes is a terrible idea. General users don't understand the implications of what scheduling data refreshes can do to a server's capacity.
