The ability to 'lock' where tables are manually placed on the relationships pane would be very helpful. We have created a data model with security tables, secured dimensions, unsecured dimensions, and secured fact tables. When I lay out the tables in a specific way, the design is far more understandable than when placement is auto-generated. A 'lock' type of functionality to 'freeze' the table layout would be very helpful because I can more easily locate/verify (a) specific types of tables, (b) bidirectional relationships where they should be (and shouldn't be), and (c) relationship directions are accurate.

RE: Lock placement of tables in relationships pane

Hello - I can echo all of the frustration from prior posts. It is now almost 4 years since the original idea was submitted. Was there ever any work done to resolve this issue?

Hi, It would really be of great help to have this feature specially when you need to work with big data.

How is this still not fixed?? Seriously nothingyou have 'improved' in the relationships view functionality is actually better. Rolling back to how it functioned in Oct 18 would be better than the current state.

RE: Lock placement of tables in relationships pane

I completely agree and this issue has become even worse with the new model/relationship view that was released. I really dislike the new view. When I close and re-open a power bi desktop file, my tiles are microscopic and the model is completely re-arranged. The tiles are so microscopic I can't even see them. I have to zoom way in just to be able to grab them and move them back, but they are spaced so way far out I am scrolling forever just to drag and drop all of the tiles to the other end of my screen and then repeat the process over and over. It's a ridiculous waste of time. It's so frustrating!

RE: Lock placement of tables in relationships pane

It's very difficult to monitor/maintain relational integrity when the relationship diagram keeps scrambling. It helps greatly when I take the time to organize the table placement on the page, however that effort is wasted if it just re-scrambles everything.
