Interpreting visuals without a clear legend to indicate logic behind specific styles can lead to confusion and decision-making errors. An idea to enhance clarity and transparency by ensuring legends and tooltips accurately display colors, patterns, and other visual components influenced by logics, would enable report consumers to easily understand the applied logic and make more effective decisions.

Format Legend: determine legend order and adapt legend categories (for instance yes, no in Yes, No or to aggregate very long legend names in shorter and more insightfull names). thanks in advance and keep up the good work! Timo

We often have columns or measures that we want to be formatted the same in EVERY report tab in EVERY visual the same way. There is no universal method to format a measure in every visual in a report. We have to go into each visual on each report tab and do the exact same field formatting (colors, etc.) in each visual. We would like there to be a Universal option.
And, you know what will come next? :-) No doubt, somebody will want the formatting to be report wide EXCEPT for one single visual somewhere. Is that possible too?

And besides colors: a default sorting setting for categorical data would be great. If I have e.g. "very high, high, medium, low, very low" as categories, I need to create an extra table, with these 5 categories as rows and numbers in a second column, then sort the text column by the number column and relate them into my data. Being able to set a manual sorting for the dimension (alongside default colors) would be great.

YES PLEASE! Having moved from Tableau to Power BI this is the most annoying missing feature, especially when dealing with a rebranding and therefore new colors! Yes, I can change the theme, and when I have used theme colors before, they will get changed with the color of the same position in the new theme, but this still leave the issue for "non theme" colors and when creating new visuals with the same measure/dimension.

Just ran into this with a donut chart. Would like to conditionally format across multiple report pages using a measure (or column) to ensure that a given attribute is given a consistent color. i.e. Table of Data with Type of data A, B, C. I'd like to easily be able to always have the same colors assigned to these types instead of having to manually select the colors on each visual.

I have just discovered that I cannot format the text in the legend . Also if I can format the text to be the colour I want, I don't necessarily need the marker (less is more).Cheers,Ian

The lack of this feature seems to be a recurring habit of Microsoft in the Power Platform, I remember working with Power Apps at one point and that suffered the exact same problem. Can we get some QoL features please Microsoft?

This is the kind of the thing that leaves you wondering, in 2022... how this is isn't already a basic-included feature?
RE: Epic idea: Conditioanl formatting parameters displayed in legends and tooltips
Currently the "based on field" formatting (identified by the button "fx" under "Data Colors") is not available for all the standard visuals (like line chart, area chart, stacked area chart, pie chart, donut chart).
This option (available only for the bar/column chart visuals) disappears if a database field is assigned to "Legend". Consequently the only way to customise the colors is by manually selecting them for each case!

The other thread requesting this feature indicates completed, but there are a number of other comments indicating that the fix isn't applied to all built in visuals. - please vote up this idea to get the other visuals fixed as well.
