Importing from Excel currently does not seem to support PowerPivot and requires a local path to the file.

Hi Christian. We're planning to provide the ability to connect to and/or import an existing PowerPivot model into the Power BI Designer and to the Power BI service. If anyone else thinks we should prioritize this please add your votes!

Yes, yes, yes! I have a complex PowerPivot data model with a few hundred measures. Don't want to recreate the whole thing over again.

Hello, Please definitely priorize this. I'm just setting up our BigData for several companies in the Heat&Power-Segment. Most of our data for number chrunching is used in existing PPivot-Models. We want to use Power BI to web enable with PowerPivot tabels/models. And we need this solution asap.

definitely required. Right now Tableau can connect to a Power Pivot model how come Power Bi can't. Microsoft is loosing clients & business because of this. Right now I have a large project which uses a Power Pivot data model to do the number crunching for operational KPI monitoring for 6 billion dollar plants. I want to use Power BI to web enable - it looks like a perfect solution- but have to now consider other options

Yes - Please up this on your list. This would drastically save time on reports already created. I am working on a project and everything is built with PowerPivot and this kind of an issue given certain limitations with security and see that the Azure Data Warehouse is not yet released to the public this is becoming more and more needed.
