Today it is possible only to have a static data model or direct query. Would really like to have the mainstream refreshable data model available within the embedded offering. Would like to be able to control the refresh via API.

As of June 2017, The Power BI service and Power BI Embedded came together to offer a single API for embedding your dashboards and reports. This means you now have one API surface, a consistent set of capabilities and access to the latest Power BI features – such as dashboards, gateways and app workspaces – when embedding your content. You can read more about it here- https://powerbi.microsoft.com/en-us/documentation/powerbi-developer-embedding/ For those who work with the Power BI Embedded Workspace Collection solution, we built a migration tool for easier data transition. See more info here- https://powerbi.microsoft.com/en-us/documentation/powerbi-developer-migrate-tool/

RE: Allow in-place data model refresh in embedded PowerBI
This is becoming very important need now for us to meet all Power BI embedded requirements. MS team please get this as soon you can. Much appreciate!
RE: Allow in-place data model refresh in embedded PowerBI
This is a must have feature. When can we expect this?
RE: Allow in-place data model refresh in embedded PowerBI
Good to see this is being planned, any timeline on this, please ?
RE: Allow in-place data model refresh in embedded PowerBI
This is also critical for me. I´m trying to use direct query in my reports but they have complex queries, so it is immpossible to work this way. We need any solution from the Power BI team.
RE: Allow in-place data model refresh in embedded PowerBI
This is critical. No way for us to use Power BI embedded without an ability to refresh the data! Everything else about the 'embedded' is pretty solid, good stuff really. Just cannot use without the automatic refresh. The Direct Query is not an option as it's too restricted (cannot use multiple data sources, cannot use Azure Tables, etc)
RE: Allow in-place data model refresh in embedded PowerBI
I agree with the group that Power BI Embedded is basically unusable without a means to refresh the imported data programmatically or at least on a scheduled basis. It makes no sense in a case such as monthly or even weekly KPIs to use resources to do Direct Query when the data is not changing.
RE: Allow in-place data model refresh in embedded PowerBI
I've been in contact with the PowerBI team and they said data refresh is scheduled for Q2 of 2017.
RE: Allow in-place data model refresh in embedded PowerBI
Wao! This is a stunner... we surely need this. Must have for any production quality system
RE: Allow in-place data model refresh in embedded PowerBI
An update from the Power BI team on the roadmap for Power BI Embedded with respect to this feature would be greatly appreciated!!!
RE: Allow in-place data model refresh in embedded PowerBI
It seems crazy... is this really the case? Really?
Without the capability to schedule refreshed imports to Azure, Power BI Embedded is only usable if:
a) your data is static, or
b) you use direct query exclusively and accept all its limitations
I'd guess that
