Have independent controls to include and format data labels when using Line and Column Chart visualizations. This visualization is essential to have data analyses with different value ranges, which means it is likely to have different labeling needs for data expressed in columns than the one used to expressed in lines.

The original request was to format the line and columns separately, which you can do today through the customize series option. Here's a post detailing the feature: https://powerbi.microsoft.com/blog/power-bi-desktop-june-2018-feature-summary/#comboLabels

RE: Independent Data Label Controls in Combo Charts
Hi, I agree this is definitely needed. the "Customize Series" toggle only works for background and not for the value itself
RE: Independent Data Label Controls in Combo Charts
It's kind of crazy that this still isn't possible.
RE: Independent Data Label Controls in Combo Charts
Wait...it seems like you can do this. Under Format > Data Labels there is a section for customize series. You can select the data series and turn the label off using the Show toggle

RE: Independent Data Label Controls in Combo Charts
Very much needed as none or both labels produces a visual that is difficult to interpret or very messy.
