Switch accounts and tenants in the portal in the same way as Azure

In the same way that the Azure portal allows switching between accounts and directories without logging out, the Power BI portal should enable users to switch between accounts and tenants.

Currently the only way to do this is by logging out which is inconvenient and also logs the user out from any Azure Portal sessions currently active.

RE: Switch accounts and tenants in the portal in the same way as Azure

An increasing number of features are being tied to a user's identity in Power BI Desktop. Live connections to datasets connect to the tenant that is currently logged in. Persistent custom visuals and organizational visuals are tied to it, and even the Most Recently Used list seems to be affected. This gets very confusing for anyone that works with multiple tenants. Opening a direct connected report when currently logged into the wrong tenant is an exercise in futility.

I propose that Power BI Desktop implement the concept of profiles, as seen in Chrome and the new Microsoft Edge. It would then be relatively simple to switch between identities for a single instance, but it would be very convenient to launch an instance of Power BI Desktop with a specific identity. Ideally each profile could be pinned to a taskbar to keep everything organized. This works well with browsers, and would be a wonderful addition to Power BI Desktop.

PBI Desktop should allow via some way/form to log into other PBI tenants using the same account home account. Could even be a tenant.id popup hotkey popup to switch tenants, but this really needs to be in there somewhere. It is crippling our work as users now need to have not only their 'main' account, but local accounts to each of these tenants to work on content. One of our content team could have 3-20 different accounts to keep up with... all because we cannot log into another tenant we have guest rights to in order to work.

I would really like to be able to connect to Dataflows that are in a specific tenant from the Power BI desktop. I develop dashboard for different people and with their own tenants. I'd like to be able to choose which tenant to get the data from and then also which tenant to publish the reports, dashboards and datasets.

We have the SAME ISSUE with our clients. It's a complete pain for us!!! (Plus we have our own separate tenant for a Data-As-A-Service offering that runs into issues!

This needs to work like the Azure Portal or Teams for sure. We have multiple client tenants that we have to log in and out of through links all the time -and it is a total pain for us and for our users.

Sharing ctid links isn't a good way for a big roll out. A simple switch in the mobile app is necessary for serving a big audience in another tenant.

We explicitly share high level rapports to Audit Committees and Co-operative management boards. Most of them use mobile devices and they are not happy having to look-up / receive a link every time. Please make it more user friendly for B2B

The Power BI portal, Desktop and Mobile App should definitely work as the Azure Portal.
In B2B context, it is a mandatory feature !

The Azure Portal does this beautifully... please make Power BI act in the same manner. Having to bookmark the ?ctid link makes me sad.
