The filter panel is a great solution to preserve report real estate and not require developmentally painful slicer panels for reports that need multiple filters available for user interactions, however the filters in the panel do not always allow for the same control and options as a slicer does. I believe needs to change.
- You should be able to have a filter in the panel and turn on or off interactions (edit interactions) for visualizations just like with slicers and to allow for syncing across pages just like with slicers.
- You should also be able to determine if a filter appears in 1, some or all pages across a report as well as individual visualizations. I think if you removed the sections in the panel of (viz, page, report) and just were able to apply that context to each filter alone it would streamline this. Short of that, you should be able to drag and drop filters that were in one section to another section. Currently you have to delete them and readd them which can be painful especially if they have custom parameters.
