It would be great to be able to lock the elements in the desktop version so that when using the scroll bars (on a slicer) that the control does not lift off the page and be dragged after I have found the items I wanted to tick.

In fact being able to lock the elements down so that they cannot be moved (from maybe a Top left corner anchor point) would be better all round

RE: Lock elements

Is anyone from PBI/Msft team still tracking this item? Looks like it's been a while and we haven't heard anything. I know that the latest version of PBI Desktop allows you to enable the grid and you can snap your visual items to the grid. I'm wondering if that's how the PBI team decided to deliver this functionality. Or at least tell us if this is still in works. Either way is good.

RE: Lock elements

While at it, please make it so that when locked, the element cannot be DELETED (or at least put some confirmation in the before deletion).

Accidental deletion of an element does happen in a variety on scenarios (e.g. deleting elements which overlap, trying to delete written input from a visualization and accidentally delete the whole visualization etc.).

RE: Lock elements

Nick, It would be great that once somebody of the PBI team commented its also followed. I Mean, in July 2016 you posted that it would be discussed on the next sprint.
Even if the news is 'bad' would be great to have some news, now we don't know anythign on this interesting idea ...
Same happens on other ideas .....

RE: Lock elements

At the very least, they could make it so you can only drag items by their titlebar thing. Like every other element in every other piece of software ever

RE: Lock elements

Hoping that this is still under review. I spent a lot of time making everything look exactly how I want it to. It would be a shame if someone were to come along and accidentally scramble things around.

RE: Lock elements

Concur with Mariam, require ability to lock all elements on charts to stop users unfamiliar with dashboards and web-reports interacting.. I know there is currently the ability to stop filtering/ interaction with other charts and filters but this has to be done individually, which is time consuming.. A quick Lock on the offending Chart would suffice (However, must allow data update :) )

RE: Lock elements

Basic behaviour. I would also require lock elements. You can create compelling reports with custom background image, overlapping charts. But when you need to interact with the report it is disaster. Items step to the front. When you click on the background it hides all other charts. It is really frustrating as you have to know where to click in the report...
