Can we please get an option to connect to a secondary alwayson replica via the listener? Something equivalent to ApplicationIntent=ReadOnly would be great.

This is now implemented as "enable sql server failover support". But I found no information about it what so ever

RE: connect to alwayson secondary replica

AlwaysOn offers the feature to distribute read load to secondary replicas (Read-only intent). This feature must be available for PowerBI.

Yes, I agree. This will be very helpful and allow us to spread the connections among different nodes via the read-only routing.

I'm really surprised this is not part of Power BI, being its primary goal is reporting, and makes the most sense(to me at least) on a secondary/read-only replica.

I agree this is a great idea. The SQL Server team seems to have invested a big effort in making read-only secondary replicas available, and makes it a key selling point. Since by nature any connection from Power BI is read-only it seems only natural that Power BI take advantage of this SQL Server capability. Even though there are not a lot of votes currently, I would expect the effort to implement this is low and I hope the product team can address.
