I propose an enhancement to the refresh feature in Power BI. Currently, hitting the refresh button updates all the tables in a report, which can be time-consuming and resource-intensive, especially in complex reports with multiple data sources and large datasets.
Suggested Feature: Introduce an option that allows users to selectively refresh tables. When the refresh button is pressed, a dialog should appear listing all the tables in the report. Users can then check the tables they want to refresh and uncheck the ones they don't, giving them greater control over the data refresh process.
Benefits:
- Efficiency: Reduces the time and computational power needed to refresh reports by allowing updates only on relevant tables.
- Convenience: Users can quickly update specific parts of the report that are critical for their analysis without waiting for a full refresh.
- Flexibility: Supports better management of data connections, particularly useful when dealing with live data sources or when only parts of the data need to be updated frequently.
Use Case: Consider a scenario where a report pulls data from several different sources, including real-time datasets and large historical databases. If a user needs to update only the real-time data, the current system requires refreshing the entire report, consuming unnecessary resources and time. With the selective refresh feature, the user can update just the needed tables, making the process more efficient.
