It's necessary for me, as well as others I'm sure, about conditional formatting where there is possibly no numeric value but Text. As well as being capable of applying conditional formatting based on other columns.

RE: Better Conditional Formatting Tools

Being able to conditionally format one report column based on another is an absolute must for me. I.e. If column A greater than column B then Red. No way I can convince my users to move away from excel without this.

RE: Better Conditional Formatting Tools

Is conditional formatting text still not available?

RE: Better Conditional Formatting Tools

Power BI needs to get to a similar level of flexibility with conditional formatting as available in Excel.
This includes extending it to text fields/measure values, to apply to total row values, to be able to format a value in one column based on the value of another.

Also making the Wingdings font available would be good too; eg being able to display a character as a tick or cross (as you can in Excel) to indicate pass/fail, etc.

RE: Better Conditional Formatting Tools

This seems pretty basic. Should have been done by now.

Agree. Formatting an entire row or just a cell in a table based on text values would be extremely helpful.

RE: Better Conditional Formatting Tools

Visual effects are important in any reporting tool. People that build reports/analytics might have a better understanding of the data even when it looks doll. However, as more and more non technical people become dependent on analytics it is imperative to have all the necessary effects in place for them to be able to interpret data. Conditional formatting in Power BI must be enhanced to include the suggested feature mentioned here.

RE: Better Conditional Formatting Tools

Include Harvey Balls and smileys like Excel.

Also build it in a way that I can releate to other aspect in the row. Like

System availabilty Norm jan feb mar etc
SAP 99,5% 99.4 (red) 99.5 (orange) 99.9(green)
Power BI 95.8 99.4 (Green)96 (green) 94 (red)

So every system has it's own norm to releate to.

RE: Better Conditional Formatting Tools

It would be extremely helpful to have more control over conditional formatting. Specifying based on text (if value = apple then red, if value = banana then yellow, etc.) or based on a formula (if value > 100 then green else if value between 50 and 99 then yellow else red) that's in a different column.

I'm trying to do RAG statuses based on values, but I don't want the numbers to show, just the color. Would be helpful to be able to match the text color to the background color via conditional formatting.

RE: Better Conditional Formatting Tools

Conditional formatting on Text would be very helpful. There seems to be another idea, asking for conditional formatting on Text as well.
