Column names must be dynamic i.e. we should be able to change the column names in a Table/Matrix

RE: Dynamic Column Names in a table

I encountered a different scenario today where this would be useful: I created a field parameter. I want the options in the slicer to have a different name compared to the table. So the slicer would show "Full Detail" and "Rollup", while the table should name them "Split" and "Split Rollup". In other words, the slicer offers the options showing what the field _does_, while the table shows the actual field name. Right now, the parameter seems to control the field name in the table. If columns can set their own title, they should be able to receive information on if a parameter field name is overriding the default. The function could then choose to accept or reject this override.

RE: Dynamic Column Names in a table

I've been asked to reproduce a financial report in Power BI.I'm using a matrix with values as rows, and a funding line in the "Rows" part. This is mostly working, but in the original the values are titled things like "Percentage of [line] plan", so each area in the matrix has slightly different row titles. An ability to set a custom row title would allow for the existing format to be preserved. A good place for this would be equivalent to the "Dynamic" format now available for measures. I'd also like to use this with visual level calculations - visual level calcs should also be able to set a dynamic name.

RE: Dynamic Column Names in a table

This is much needed feature today as other tools like qlik have option to easily modify column names based on any expression..

RE: Dynamic Column Names in a table

How is this not a standard feature? Seems very basic and much needed!

RE: Dynamic Column Names in a table

Dynamic column name based on selected slicer values is an essential functionality. Please provide this feature as soon as possible. Many other reporting tools do provide this functionality by default.

Having dynamic column names in the table visual is a real useful feature and would really help. Most requirments will need dynamic column names, I just don't understand why this not up there as a default feature.

6 years later, still not possible to use selection as column names while qlik had this since 2011.I prefer pbi in every way but this and absolutely need it for work as I need to be clear to the business about the years, weeks etc instead of current week, last week ... It's such a simple idea, logical to use but so hard to actually use. You can use current date and calculating from now this year month etc, but when selecting previous years its not yet possible..Please add this❤️

RE: Dynamic Column Names in a table

We have some "user defined" fields in our system with names "udf1", "udf2" etc and we give the ability to each customer to configure the "udf" fields names i.e. "Test Column1 Name", "Test Column1 Name" etcWhen those fields appear in the PowerBI report we need them to appear with each customer's configuration names instead of "udf1", "udf2"Very very useful feature!!

RE: Dynamic Column Names in a table

Yes, this function is simple yet very useful. For example, if we choose a Year "2022" in a slicer, then the column name shall be something like "2022 Actual Sales".If 2021 is selected, then the column name shall be displayed as "2021 Actual Sales".This functionality is so simple but add a lot of clarity for users.
