This is a continuation of "Allow runtime parameters in Power View and/or Power Query". Request this capability in Power BI Online so users can go to a dashboard and easily be able to search for a list of values. Currently the user would need to use a slicer and individual select each value. An example would be if I had list of part numbers to search in the dashboard. Currently I would need to scroll up and down in a slicer and individually select each one. In SSRS I can create a parameter dropdown and easily type in and even copy and paste values in to search for.

Must have! We are trying to replace our Business Objects server and do not want to pull a 200 million record dataset then filter. Having this would be great to limit the dataset!

Without this feature, PowerBI is a non-starter for ISV's trying to embed.

RE: Power BI Online Query Parameters

It is a must have! I have database with million of rows and I need that the stakeholders can put the parameters and then autorun the query in the back end because we can upload every time all the datebase and do a directy query is not a solution becasue if I need more than 1 filter (exmaple Dates and Type) every time that i change one filter/slicer the sysmte automatically rerun the query (i know the apply buttom) insteado of a "general" apply buttom in order to click and run the quiery with the 2 slicers/filters selected

RE: Power BI Online Query Parameters

Ideally the published dashboard should allow the users to refresh the dashboard using new input parameter values or variable values, e.g., the users should be able to enter Calendar Year Month with default value, say, Current Year Month "201809" while executing data refresh using Power BI online.

The views in the database should be able to use the new input parameter values to calculate or filter before returning the result dataset.

This should support both SAP HANA connection and SQL Server connection.

Thanks,
Terry

RE: Power BI Online Query Parameters

Please help add this feature in ASAP!!!

We're in the process of evaluating various options to replace our legacy self-service and data visualization solution used by both IT and business.

We have some many views with both Input Parameters and Variables defined in the enterprise data warehouse. We urgently need Power BI to enables our users to change the values of input parameters while refreshing the data on Power BI service. This is a must-have feature!!!

Thanks a lot!
Terry

RE: Power BI Online Query Parameters

If this is added, can we be sure to include the ability to continue to hide parameters if-desired? We use parameters to swap out source server/dbnames, and this is an information-disclosure i'd prefer not to be public :)

Please can we add this feature as it'll allow users to change parameters set in Power BI desktop.
