As of now, the reports that I create on desktop utilize a lot of time intelligence functions and relative date filters. This is completely fine so long as I view the report on the desktop. Once I publish the report up to the service and then utilize those visuals in dashboards I run into this issue. All of my time intelligence functions (TODAY & NOW) and relative date filters convert to UTC.

This issue causes my data to roll over to the next day 5 hours early which affects all of my subscriptions.

It would be absolutely fantastic if Power BI service could recognize local time zone or even if we could manually set our time zone so that these measure work correctly.

I agree with everyone. Did Microsoft really thought everyone lives in UTC?

Also interested in this request - would make our lives a lot easier!

Two other requests that could be rolled in to this one:

Specify Timezone for Relative Date Filter – 124 votes

Allow formatting date timezone fields to user local timezone – 324 votes

I see a lot of comments on if there is any update on this. Original poster here (from 2017!) and I have not seen or received ANY updates regarding this incredibly basic request.

I should have the option to set my relative date filters and BI service clock to use local time. In order to track user logins by hour, I have to add 7 hours to my date in one column, subtract it again in another column. All just to trick the relative date filter without skewing my data. Fortunately I live in Arizona and don't have to remember to change that 2x a year. Why is this a thing? Where is the dev response this issue was posted in 2017 and still has recent bumps? This is really, really dumb. For real.

Seriously Power Bi Team...get this fixed. So basic to not have and renders many reports useless or at least inaccurate. Why can't the local time of my laptop simply be recognized by Power Bi??
