When snap to grid (under the view menu) is ticked, resizing column widths in tables and matrixes should snap to the grid too
My workaround so far is to use a DPI function on a gaming mouse to reduce the speed of the pointer, so that I can precisely position the pointer before releasing it
This will enable and encourage everyone to have neat columns, sometimes of short widths, sometimes of long widths, but always conforming to the width of the column values, which makes more efficient use of precious screen space in the report
And if we want to have several similar columns in a row (eg length width height), all of equal width, we could easily have that too
This makes more sense when:
--there are long column names, and short column values (you would use the text wrap feature to manage the unwieldy column NAMES)
--there are short column names, and long column values (you would use the text wrap feature to manage the unwieldy column VALUES)
If this default behavior annoys anyone, they can turn off snap to grid
