Suppose I have two visuals that use fields from two tables but now I have one table that contains all of the fields. I would like to change the reference for the fields in the visuals.

Currently, I have to delete the fields from the visual and then add the replacement fields from the new table, but I lose all of the formatting in the visual (alternate name, data colors, labels, conditional formatting)

RE: Be able to change the reference of a field in a visual without losing the properties

My use case is similar:
I set up a table with an initial set of fields, and I add conditional formatting and other property settings to every field in the visual. Then I realize that I need to do switch the field out for a measure, and I need a new measure for each field. I use Tabular Editor to generate all of the measures, very easy to do using its Advanced Scripting feature. However, then I have to drop each measure into the table and re-apply all the formatting to each measure to match what was on the field it was replacing.

I'd really like a way to right-click on one of the fields in the Values box in the Fields tab of the visual properties, and choose a different field as the source for its data, while keeping all the other settings associated with that field in the visual.
