Currenlty when connecting to a Database using SSMS we get an error if we dont put the name of the database in the COnneciton Properties (and no one ever remembers to do this).
This leads for poor user experience and goes against "it just works"
If the user had automatic rights in master (even just connect, then there would be no error message.

Also, since databases are randomly assigned to a pool of logical servers, this does not allow you to see other databases on the same logical server.
