Need guidance on how to implement a stored procedure or simple SQL SELECT using DirectQuery

At this time, I have not found any way to successfully call a SQL Stored Procedure or SQL SELECT in Power BI using DirectQuery.

I keep getting the incorrect syntax near word EXEC.

If I try a straight SQL SELECT, I get the:

Microsoft SQL: The ORDER BY clause in invalid in views error.

This occurs even though it is a straight SELECT statement. The word VIEW does not exist in the SQL Syntax.

I have not found a way to call SQL SPs or SELECTS at all under DirectQuery.
