SAP R3 is one of the most common ERPs with tens of thousands successful large business deployments. There is also often SAP BW implemented as enterprise data warehouse. For Power BI to be more capable to compete with Business Objects (SAP data presentation tools), it is necessary to implement bidirectional cross filtering also for SAP BW connector (Direct query mode). Either using Import mode or impossibility to use bidirectional cross filtering virtually prevents Power BI to be a solution for handling large data volumes with complex structure (speaking of DWH based on SAP BW 7.5 on Hana / SAP BW 7.5 Powered by Hana / SAP BW for HANA).
