Please allow users to specify the date format in which dates should appear on the X axis on visualizations.
At present, dates display with times in the X axis if space is available. My data does not have time, and so displays meaningless 12 AM values after the date. I attempted a calculated column using DAX to format date as "m/d" but the visualization continued displaying with meaningless 12 AM values. Changing the model to a non-time format such as text allowed effective sorting, but not treating the data as continuous, which prevents use of trend lines.
Please allow users to specify the date format in which dates should appear on the X axis on visualizations.

RE: Allow Formatting of Dates in X Axis with Continuous Data
It is terrible that I cannot tell what year it is when i only have a few data points in continuous mode. Please fix this!
RE: Allow Formatting of Dates in X Axis with Continuous Data
can't believe this simple request has not done yet.My date column doesn't have time value, but when I use it as X-axis, continuous, it shows time in the visual, and of course no value for that point.

RE: Allow Formatting of Dates in X Axis with Continuous Data

This is really confusing for my report users and has been a problem for a while - please can this be fixed soon!
RE: Allow Formatting of Dates in X Axis with Continuous Data
It's been over two years since this request was submitted. Right now we have to choose between using Categorical and seeing all our dates on the x-axis but trends are disabled, or Continuous with zero control over the date labels on the x-axis but we get trends. Please let us have the best of both worlds?
RE: Allow Formatting of Dates in X Axis with Continuous Data
I've created a date table with a column for month name but as a continuous variable using date as the type. I've formatted the properties to "mmm", but despite this formatting, charts in power bi still display "mmm yyyy" and can't be fixed. Why? The only work around is to create a month number and use that instead. Very disappointing that the formatting works in the table, but not in charts. I would love for our friends in development to help us out with this problem. Thank you.
