Matrix currently doesn't allow you to sort the columns based on designating values as being a priority above the column field names.
For example, my field in the columns section results in three columns. If you add two sets of values, you are forced to see: Column 1, Value 1, Value 2, Column 2, Value 1, Value 2, etc. Like in a Pivot Table, you should be able to prioritize values so that it shows as: Column 1, Column 2, Column 3, Value 1, Column 1, Column 2, Column 3, Value 2.

RE: Matrix - Sort columns by value

Hi. I'm voting YES to add this feature.
I have a matrix with years and metrics (Volume, GP, etc).
Once I get to the year/month I want, I need to sort by Volume, GP, etc, to make the report practical and work for my sales reps. (Maybe too low GP, maybe highest Volume, etc).

My work around at the moment is enabling export and using Excel to do the job. Not a clean, sustainable or secure way to share the reports.

Thanks for listening.
Thanks

RE: Matrix - Sort columns by value

Really need this to get fixed.

Nearly everyone uses years in a matrix visual and need to sort the values by the specific year vs what the Total column says

RE: Matrix - Sort columns by value

Is there any other idea like that opened? What I have is a Matrix that have 3 columns (e.g Year = 2016, 2017 and 2018). The values (measures) below this column can only be sorted by the total sum of the 3 years instead a specific year like 2018 for example.

RE: Matrix - Sort columns by value

Yes this feature is very important, especially if e.g. Column 1: Value 2 which only has blank, it will not be suppressed.
In Excel PowerPivot, by moving Value above Column, the "blank" Value 2 will not be shown under Column 1.
Kindly add this feature asap!

RE: Matrix - Sort columns by value

We need this feauture ASAP. We can now put the values on rows, but still can't decide whether first, in the middle or last, in columns nor rows.

In this topic is a little better explain: http://community.powerbi.com/t5/Desktop/Move-up-values-field-on-column-matrix/m-p/400372

RE: Matrix - Sort columns by value

I think this should be clarified. The need is to be able to control if values or columns are displayed first in a matrix. Currently you get what is on columns on top with measure below. You should be able to switch that (like you can in Excel) to show measures on top with columns below.
