It would be great if we could change columns labels/names in the standard visuals (Table & Matrixes mainly). In our company we have a data warehouse build to support the PowerBI tabular model with the data. The field names in the data model are not the most intuitive to our PowerBI End User. It could be great if we could change the way the field labels are shown in our tables to be more intuitive and meaningful without needing to change the field names in the data model.

With today's release, you can now rename any field within a chart or table! Learn more in our blog post: https://powerbi.microsoft.com/blog/power-bi-desktop-july-feature-summary-2/#rename

RE: Change column labels/names in the visual

This is becoming a show stopper for my team. Let's get this enhanced so I can use the tool more fully.

RE: Change column labels/names in the visual

This is an essential ability to have. Seems like I should be able to center data on a column also

Agreed! and also to have column headers span two rows. Similar to "Wrap Text" functionality in excel

Agree that this would be very useful to have! I hate the fact that I have to use differently named measures to make a particular table work in a certain context, i.e. dashboard or report, but this is the only solution I've found to work around this missing product feature.

RE: Change column labels/names in the visual

Power BI really needs the ability to create custom captions or alternate display names for measures asap...

RE: Change column labels/names in the visual

Really need this feature, so one column can be used in different charts with different names. The leading words like 'Average of ', 'Count of', etc. on the header are really not what my users want.

This will makes life easier and reports more effective. I am also facing the same issue, sometimes it looks name of the column is totally different as per the the name you wanted to display for such figures in table.

Please update be about this feature too.

RE: Change column labels/names in the visual

Agreed, forcing the use of "Sum of" or "Count of" is silly. What if I want to just call it the name of the column (if aggregation is implied)? Or what if I totally want to override the label of the "Value" from something like "Sum of Hours" to "Hours" or "Total Hours" or "Capacity"

Enabling this would be very helpful in terms of giving customers control over the formatting and producing something that's appealing and simple to use.

RE: Change column labels/names in the visual

This would be a very nice feature to have, especially when creating identical measures that pertain to differing timeframe granularities or data sources

RE: Change column labels/names in the visual

Agreed. This feature would be nice for us to be able to protect the SSAS model and allow customers to customize the report in Power BI.com.
