Ability to select multiple items in a chart say multiple bars, pie's etc and automatically have filters applied to all the existing reports. this helps to highlight anomalies and see all the surrounding reports changes as we do it and showcase risks/opportunities

As of the February update, we now support cross-highlighting across multiple visuals! You can read the details in my blog post: https://powerbi.microsoft.com/en-us/blog/power-bi-desktop-february-2018-feature-summary/#crosshighlight

Must-have feature for data exploration - right now I need to add a chart and a slicer with the same categorical variable in order to achieve this, but it is not intuitive to the end user

Ahhh! Starting to utilize PBI for client's data analysis and reporting and just realized the lack of multiple filter selection on a report. Major drawback. PLEASE include this capability SOON. Thank you!

Having the ability to do this would close another gap between Power BI and Tableau.

Yes, please! This is critical to allow "stream of consciousness" analysis of a given data set...to understand WHY something happened, not just what happened. Need to allow multiple selections across multiple visuals that continue further filtering, and the user would need to click back on any visual to "remove" a given dynamic on-page visual filter.

RE: Ability to select multiple items in a report for cross-highlighting

There are few things that are desired on our dashboards:

1. Ability to multi-select not only by multi-selecting data points/bars(using CNTRL key) but also drawing a lasso around say few data points on a scatter plot.

2. Ability multi-select in two or more visuals. That is you can select the city (Seattle) on a map and product category (Bicycle) on say a pie chart and all other visuals should be filtered just to show data related to Bicycles in Seattle.

My organization is currently evaluating Power BI and several other BI tools. This feature is a hard requirement, and unless it is at least on the roadmap we will have to use a different BI solution. I want to use Power BI! Please advise.

If I understand your concern, it is possible. Currently I have a dashboard I'm creating with one slicer with years and a second slicer with County. In order for it to work, I had to add a column in my excel file and duplicate the years going down. I hope that helps.

This is an important feature that is currently lacking. The ability to make charts as slicers would be tremendously useful for end users. For now, I have to use the charts (pie or donut for example) and while clicking on the charts does restrict some data from a matrix, for example, you can't do cross-filtering with other visuals and slicers. A solution should be implemented.

This would make for a much needed improvement. For now, since charts are a good way of representing data, I have to also make a drop-down textual slicer to filter the results instead of clicking within my chart (e.g.: a pie or donut chart). It should be possible to use a chart as a slicer.
