This has been implemented for tables as of March 2020:
Power BI Desktop March 2020 Feature Summary | Microsoft Power BI Blog | Microsoft Power BI
We're well aware, however, that more can be done to improve its discoverability--as well as to extend support for the feature to other visuals (like the matrix). Keep an eye out for future developments!

RE: Add a multiple columns sort feature
Totally agree. The 'solution' of creating a calculated column and sorting by that (similar with joining using multiple columns) is not really good enough.
RE: Add a multiple columns sort feature
I have several reports created where it would be nice to sort on multiple columns. For example (1) number of orders decreasing year and month or (2) seqenced by weeks the number of tickets for each department in decreasing volume.
Part of this want is that the multi column sort is very flexible in MS Excel
RE: Add a multiple columns sort feature
I agree with other comment, at least excel features should be part of Power BI.
RE: Add a multiple columns sort feature
There are many very BASIC features that are not supported by Power BI. This is one of them. I don't think we should even have to vote on something this simple and straightforward - it's a feature of Excel.
RE: Add a multiple columns sort feature
Yes please, do add. Looking at migrating functionality from COGNOS impromptu to Power BI Desktop and this is important
