It would be great if we could change columns labels/names in the standard visuals (Table & Matrixes mainly). In our company we have a data warehouse build to support the PowerBI tabular model with the data. The field names in the data model are not the most intuitive to our PowerBI End User. It could be great if we could change the way the field labels are shown in our tables to be more intuitive and meaningful without needing to change the field names in the data model.

With today's release, you can now rename any field within a chart or table! Learn more in our blog post: https://powerbi.microsoft.com/blog/power-bi-desktop-july-feature-summary-2/#rename

Also, they just released a new matrix visual with the ability to drill down. When connected to the SSAS model, we already have the hierarchies built so this is very useful! The problem is, that when you drill down, the parent levels do not show values anymore. They are blank.

I constantly get asked if I would recommend PowerBI. While it is very powerful, this feature is indicative of its lack of polish. This feature is critical but small; it has 992 votes and comments since the beginning of PowerBI time.

Same here, live connection with SSAS. It should be possible to change the technical name of the measurement with a user-friendly display name. We have plenty of cryptic measures ending in _MTD, _YTD, _R12M, etc. which result in ugly reports.

When we apply an aggregate found in the drop down of a field, it shows up as "Count of" or "Sum of" field name in Visuals.
How do we rename the column at those visuals

This is a very important feature that needs to be available. Flexibility to change column headers from internal lingo or internal system field names so that viewers of the reports can better understand what they are looking at.

We really need this feature, especially with live SSAS connections!

Please add this feature, it's an obvious one, we cannot present headers labeled as in the data set... It's also a basic feature in Excel pivot tables, come on! Power BI is a tool for presenting data and you cannot present it clearly, with the right label, I'm astonished :-O

RE: Change column labels/names in the visual

It makes a lot of sense to use more verbose language for individual measure names in the model, but it presents challenges to available real estate for many visualizations. It would be helpful to support aliases for measure labels on a per visualization basis. The matrix and table would likely be first on the list for support. Consider measures like "Sales YTD", "Sales Prior YTD", "Sales Year over Year Variance" presented as table column headings. To take advantage of available real estate, it might be better to title the visualization as "Sales" with columns labeled "YTD", PYTD", "YOY"

The recent ability to wrap text in matrix and tables helped quite a bit, but this could make many of those visualizations more compact.
