If you have long names on a bar chart Y-Axis they get truncated. This is a problem if you have ones that start with something similar. Could we have a word wrap option on the format menu that takes advantage of the vertical space so the whole label can be shown.

RE: Add word wrap to bar chart Y-Axis Labels
Please could you implement "Category" word wrapping for Pie and Doughnut visuals.
Currently the only way to include as much text as possible is to make it so small it practically becomes illegible, and even then depending the size and placement of the visual and the content of the category you still end up with "..." and loss of useful context.
It would actually make sense to roll out word wrap across the board for all visuals.
RE: Add word wrap to bar chart Y-Axis Labels
Quite often the labels in legend fields stretch wider than the column chart can reasonably be. It would be helpful to be able to set the legend to word wrap so it goes to 2 or three shorter lines rather than truncating and hiding some classes off the right hand side of the bar or column chart

When displaying map data at a zoomed out level. Map visualisations only display once no matter how many times that geographic location is visually present. For example: the if the USA is on the left had side of the map with visualisations present then if the USA is also appearing on the right hand side of the same map, no visualisation data will appear on the right most version.
For someone inspecting the map data, it might be important for all Geographic visualisations to appear and wrap in the same way the underlying map does.
RE: Add word wrap to bar chart Y-Axis Labels
There is no provision in Power BI to wrap the categories of legend according to length or by one of these special characters (, / * ; - ). For example, I am creating a filled map where the length of the label is more than 50 in some cases - e.g. Oxford/AstraZeneca, Pfizer/BioNTech, Sinopharm/Beijing, Sputnik V. This is a problem in bar plots as well as in the case of filled map.
If there are more number of categories in legend and if the legend is positioned in top or bottom, not all the legends are visible. Therefore, there should be option to show legend in more than one row.
RE: Add word wrap to bar chart Y-Axis Labels
On charts it would be helpful to have much more functionality over the legend format e.g.
- ability to drag and move it around to where you want it
- resize the legend box and ability to word wrap the legend titles (as can be done in excel)
- format background colors of a legend box
Interestingly SAP Cloud Analytics (which I view as generally inferior to Power BI, but that is just my perspective) has a lot of this functionality.
RE: Add word wrap to bar chart Y-Axis Labels
I would like Power BI charts & table to have the same functionality as excel charts & tables, eg line markers in line and combo charts; data label for select data series (as oppose to all data series); customizing the order in legends (can't do this at present); wrapping text in table (can't do this eith at preset) etc.
RE: Add word wrap to bar chart Y-Axis Labels
There is no option to format the text in the category label. I would like some basic abilities for text manipulation on display like:
Word Wrap
Size of Text
Color of Text
Position (both vertical and horizontal)
If possible I would also love an option to have the text auto format based on the size of the box
RE: Add word wrap to bar chart Y-Axis Labels
Currently I work on a project to create Financial Statement Report or Dashboard using Power BI Desktop.
I create a measure to calculate Current Ratio. Since financial ratios (including Current Ratio) need explanation, i wrote a DAX expression with If statement to create measure that return dynamic long text (string). The the problem now is, i didn't found any appropriate visual for my dynamic long text. Card works, but it doesn't support wrap text properties for the values (the wrap property only works for category name).
