The current version of Power BI visualsation framework does not support access to the previous levels in a drill-down. I.e. you only get access to the current level when rendering. That makes it very hard to develop visualizations such as pivot tables or breakdown trees. Make this possible and I would gladly submit a stable version of my Breakdown Trees :).

Hi everyone. We've made the new matrix/table generally available so I'm closing this idea. There are still some features that we're considering and you can go add your votes to help prioritize those too: https://ideas.powerbi.com/forums/265200-power-bi-ideas/suggestions/9207006-matrix-collapse-expand-buttons https://ideas.powerbi.com/forums/265200-power-bi-ideas/suggestions/17339728-more-flexible-conditional-formatting-in-tables-and https://ideas.powerbi.com/forums/265200-power-bi-ideas/suggestions/13808061-matrix-sort-columns-by-value https://ideas.powerbi.com/forums/265200-power-bi-ideas/suggestions/9508416-formatting-of-text-in-grid-and-matrix https://ideas.powerbi.com/forums/265200-power-bi-ideas/suggestions/19124698-vertical-column-labels-in-table-and-matrix

RE: Pivot tables and breakdown trees

Allow the ability to highlight a row in Table / Matrix view by clicking on it.

This can be done in Excel via some hacking of the conditional formatting function, and though I see that CF is already being worked on, don't think the row-highlight CF 'hack' would work in Power BI.

This is a definitely a basic feature, all other vizualisation tools have. I currently cannot say to the client not this is not possible, in the "great tool" Power BI

Can't understand why such an essential function has been ignored.

Allow manually filters in a table by cliking on one specific field(s)

Absolutely essential. We should be able to set ever visualization as filters or slicers to other visualisations using Edit Interaction.

Currently we can edit interactions so that we can filter/highlight other visuals based on a segment in a treemap or bar on a bar chart and so on. But we can't yet use the table or matrix as a filter source. This would be a very useful addition - we may have a matrix of sales per region (rows) and product (column) and a line chart shows sales during the year and would like to show that line chart filtered by selected region or product.

This is killing me right now. I need tables to have basic excel functionality. Red negatives and drill down would be huge.

I am looking for the same functionality. I have a few "Top 10" tables and the dashboard's functionality would be greatly improved if the user could click on one of the items/rows in the top 10 table, and have the rest of the page dynamically sliced based on what was clicked. Possible bonus feature, would be multi-select within the table for slicing.

RE: Pivot tables and breakdown trees

Actually in powerBi Tables are not so useful: you can't interact with them. They only update when you slice or drill another report. All others BI software i know permit to use table in the same way of others graph controls.

i make it simple: when i select a bar in a histogram all other graph and tables are updated to reflect the data filtered by the selected bar,
What if i click a row in a table: now nothing, and why not get the same interaction of the bar? (slice or filter)
